The FAB Corner: The Fashion Factor Recap [VIDEO]

The FAB Network recently hosted “The Fashion Factor: An Insider’s Look Beyond the Glitz and Glam.”

Moderated by The FAB Network founder Jessica Styles, The Fashion Factor focused on giving students and fashionistas an inside look into the world of fashion and design.

Panelists included Ray’uana Aleyce, model and founder of Model Social Media LLC; Deidra Clark, assistant buyer at Lord & Taylor and founder, Getting Back To Me; Kristen Devine, Senior Account Executive at Tracy Reese; Laurel DeWitt, designer/founder of LaureLuxe Metal Couture; and Sonya Holley, CEO/founder of Trendcocktail.com and Sonya Holley Jewelry.

The group provided insight into what helped them achieve success, information they wished they knew before starting their career and reputable industry resources. Topics of discussion included the various careers with fashion, the importance of international studies and travel, tips for getting your foot in the door, and starting your own business.

DeWitt advised aspiring fashion entrepreneurs to be more resourceful and create opportunities for success – things she said she “learned the hard way.”

“My biggest regret would be spending money in the beginning that I didn’t necessarily need to spend. There’s so much you can do instead of attacking everything right away by networking and building the right opportunities.”

Clark, who provides lifestyle coaching consulting, advised, “It’s really about balancing and knowing what you want and realizing that hard work is important and essential in order to get that big picture goal accomplished,” advised Clark.
