This should be a no brainer, but telling your boss that you’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness is extremely difficult.

For many, the difficulty comes from the fear of having to miss so many days at work. Before you set up that meeting, however, contact your company’s HR department and/or look up their policy on sick time and terminal illness. Most companies have excellent policies on missing time due to terminal illness and hopefully your boss will surprise you with their level of compassion.
