MLB’s Wendy Lewis Scores High in Business Diversity

Wendy LewisAs SVP, Diversity and Strategic Alliances for Major League Baseball (MLB), Wendy Lewis’ days in the office are never the same. Under her leadership, the department launched the Diverse Business Partners Program to cultivate relationships with minority and women-owned businesses. Over $800 million dollars has been spent with minority business owners, making it the premier supplier diversity program in professional sports.

This summer, the Milwaukee native is about to hit another one out of the ballpark with the MLB’s Diversity Business Summit. This one-day conference in Chicago brings together job seekers, entrepreneurs and MLB execs for the summer’s hottest business matchmaking event. We catch up with her to find out what drives her passion for helping small business owners thrive and what keeps her motivated on and off the field.

What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago? Same as today – Know who you are. Be true to yourself. Be professional with everyone.

What is the most significant life lesson you’ve learned? Faith and Family first.

The most valuable business lesson she’s learned: Never stop being talented.

Her mantra: Faith is believing in advance what will only make sense in reverse.
